The Siamese from Scratch Project
This page is about my "Siamese from scratch" line. This line starts here at CMMR with two Himalayan rats I acquired from 2 different pet shops with no known background. I plan to put my heart and soul into, and break my back over, perfecting this CMMR originated Siamese line. I know it will take some time and I expect for some overwhelming obstacles, of which I hope to conquer. I put pride in everything I do and I expect it to reflect in this line.
Step One... Breeding between Sasha and Prairie. This step will help me determine what these two rats are in terms of markings, not so much color since I will get a lot of Seal point Himalayans, Pink eyed whites, and hopefully a Siamese. The main target is a healthy Siamese of either sex or pattern with an acceptable build to continue on with.
Step Two... Take these beautiful babies (Berkshire and Irish) and breed them to self rats. The result of these breeding's will be self and Berkshire rats in black and perhaps Agouti. My main target in this step is to produce healthy perfect self rats that carry Siamese to continue on with. A true Siamese rat has NO white on its feet or belly.
Update: Velvet experienced delivery problems that left her with an unsuccessful litter. This step will be repeated with Velvet being replaced with CMMR Chinook.
Chinook delivered a healthy litter of pups November 2006. Amongst the Himalayans she also had a nice American Blue Self male and a nice Black Self female for me to continue on with.
Update: The American Blue Male has met my expectations but the Black Self Female has confirmation problems that I did not want to continue on with. Her eyes were smaller than my requirements and she will be placed in a Pet home.
Step Three... Make Self Siamese! My breeding between CMMR Moonshadow and CMMR Ace produced my Self Siamese! The Siamese from scratch project is complete!
